This week we've begun starting to learn more about plane shapes (2D shapes). The kids are learning the properties of the shapes and how to describe them to one another. They have also been learning about the different ways we can makes shapes using other shapes! Perrywink (the class owl) brought us a treat using shapes and we made out own robots out of shapes. Perrywink is a special owl in our class that brings us treats if he has noticed that we are doing a good job following the rules and getting our work done! These treats are usually healthy and always involve an academic task! |
We have also been writing a lot about rules and why we have them in school, at home and in the classroom. Together, we came up with our "Keys for Success" in the classroom. These are our rules that will help us in being successful in the classroom throughout the year. The kids generated a list of their own ideas for rules in the classroom and decided, as a group, which rules we would have in our classroom.
Of course in first grade we get silly. Someone had the great idea of using some of the parts of Perrywink's treat to make mustaches.

We will be having an open house for grade K-3rd grade on Tuesday, September 29th from 5:30pm to 6:15pm. Please join us in our class and have the kids show you everything we have been working on so far!
